Mission Argument

Henderson Brute Center's mission is to provide temporary shelter and splendid care for devious, unwanted and homeless animals for the City.

Each day we strive to:

• Promote responsible pet ownership.
• Protect Citizens by housing public nuisance animals brought by local law enforcement.
• Prevent unnecessary euthanasia past diligently locating homes for every brute possible within our care.

All activities shall be in compliance with State, Federal, and local laws and regulations; and duties shall exist performed by a humane and professional person staff.

DISPOSITION OF ANIMALS

General

Domestic animals housed at the Henderson Animal Control Facility leave in i of following ways:

• Adoption
• Returned to owner
• Transferred

Wild animals are released within a prophylactic habitat, or sent to a Certified Rehabilitator.

Adoption

Information about animals adopted from the Shelter must be recorded on the computer record. This includes the date of adoption and the proper name, address and telephone number of the adopter. A copy of medical records, such as vaccinations or deworming, volition exist sent with the individual adopting or rescue.

Return to Owners

Owners claiming a stray creature as their own must provide Evidence of Ownership such as a bill of purchase, pictures that document ownership over time (i.e. puppy thru adult pictures), proof of rabies or licensing, and/or medical records.

If an individual claims an animal after the Stray Hold engagement has elapsed, or they're lacking Evidence of Ownership, Henderson Animal Command personnel can cull to prefer the animal pending an approved awarding and agreement to spay or neuter the animal.

Euthanasia

When deemed necessary for medical reasons, domestic and wild fauna may exist euthanized. Critically sick, or seriously injured domestic animals may be euthanized prior to conclusion of the stray holding period to forestall additional suffering by blessing of the Animal Center Director. Other avenues such equally rescues, with blessing from the Director, may as well be utilized.

The engagement of and reason for euthanasia, the dosage and type of drugs used, and the technician's initials are recorded in calculator tape and hard copy.

Release

Depending on the status of the brute and circumstances regarding rabies control, wild animals may be fix free in a safe release expanse.

Transfer

Animals are released to shelter and rescue partners, if the receiving agency is canonical by the Henderson Animal Middle Section.

Animal Intake Procedure

The Henderson Brute Center Facility is an open admission shelter for animals within the Metropolis of Henderson, and accepts animals from within Rusk County for a fee. No animals from outside Rusk County are accustomed by the facility.

We evaluate each brute individually and make decisions regarding adoption, transfer, or foster based upon the animal and their ability to be safely re-homed.

If the middle is at capacity, staff will obtain an individual's contact data and call them back as soon as a spot becomes available. Donated food may be sent domicile if the individual is unable to provide for the animal. Our logs are maintained and updated on a daily basis.
